What can I say to the one I love

More than anyone or anything

When I have so often failed

to let it show?

The one I sometimes

Seem to take for granted

Even though I don’t mean to?

How can I explain to the one

Who understands me

Better than I understand myself

And whose support, encouragement

And belief in me

Help me be a better person?

In you I found someone special

And when our lives intermingled

I realized then that you were

My “once in a lifetime miracle”.

The older we get

The more I think about

What really matters in life

And so many things

That once seemed important

No longer even make the list.

Life gives us time

But only love gives it meaning

What really matters to me now

Is the two of us...
